At how many months does a dog start shedding? Or do they shed right after birth?

By

I’m asking because we are trying to find a home for this little one, he is a papillon mix and ten weeks old. But the family who wants to adopt him wants to know if he will shed. If he’s not shedding now, is it possible for him to shed when gets a little older?

Yes he will shed. At 7-9 months he will change into his adult coat and will shed alot then. After that there is the normal daily shed most dogs go through. This can be controlled somewhat by daily brushing to get the hair before it falls. (always a good idea as brushing keeps the coat clean and shiny)

i don’t think Those kinds of dogs don’t shed. But if they do, he will probably start shedding at 6-8 weeks. U shouldn’t sell a dog unless they r at least 8 weeks old. Good luck! :) please help me with my question. Thank u!http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiZfa4EW8fzrR93O19bikfydDH1G;_ylv=3?qid=20090709191642AArNGye

Yes he will shed. This year he will lost all of his puppy coat then next spring he will shed his natural adult coat. They must be prepared for shedding hair & regular brushing. Any questions you can go to this site which has an easy to understand summary on shedding & the growth of dog’s hair.

you should be able to look it up online and see if they are a shedding dog….maybe try akc.org and look up the breed, or, just put papillon characteristics in the search engine and see what you come up with!

all year long, all dogs shed to various degrees. during summer and very warm weather it is more evident.
Yes puppies shed fur, just like humans shed hair but we don’t notice.
