Does anyone know what the oil is that you use for dogs ears to get rid of mites?
ByMy dad used to use some type of oil for our dog’s ears and I can’t remember the name and neither can he. Does anyone know what it’s called? My friends dog has stinky ears and she needs help. Thanks.

If fleas and ticks weren’t enough for your pet to avoid, they also have to contend with the threat of the very irritating presence of ear mites. Depending on the species, ear mites attack dogs, cats, rabbits, and even cattle. As a highly contagious pet condition, it is important to supply your companion with an immediate remedy for the constant scratching and irritation that takes place with an infection. Before relying on chemical means to destroy the presence of ear mites, you should consider using treatments made at home.

We used to use mineral oil. It would help to loosen that black tar like guck caused by the mites.

For red itchy ears, almost any oil will coat the mites and smother them. I lean toward liquid cooking oil as one of the safest. Baby oil can’t be too bad.
Stinky, gunky ears might yield to cleaning with vinegar water, but more likely will need a remedy from the vet. Most heartworm remedies control ear mites, so they aren’t as common as years ago.
