Does my dog need to get loose teeth surgically removed?
ByMy 7yr old Chihuahua hit her face on a step from jumping…. 3 teeth became lose, 1 fell out, I took her to vet nd he gave her antibiotics nd pain reliever…. he wants her to have a dental which is really expensive… I should have asked but didn’t, can I just let the other teeth fall out while continuing the meds or ?

First of all, if the teeth became loose that easily, then it’s likely that your chihuahua has dental disease, especially if she has never had a dental and she’s 7 years old. It’s best to get the dental done. Non-anesthetic dentals are never recommended unless it’s for a dog that cannot have anesthesia. These do more harm than good, and are sometimes illegally done. Without polisher, the scrapes in the teeth from the scaler allow more surface area for bacteria/tartar.
If you’re concerned about money, get another estimate from another vet.
