Dog barking when we leave home?
By adminMy boyfriend and I got a rescue dog about 2 months ago. She is a great dog, but we have a problem.. She keeps barking when we leave! We just moved into a new apartment yesterday, and she is going nuts when we leave. How can we get her to stop? We don’t want to lose our place because of this! They are really strict about noise and dogs barking!

your dog has abandonment issues =( she just doesn’t want you to leave. try giving her a treat before you go, i’m not really sure how to get her to stop. try reasurring her before you leave

She’s afraid you won’t come back, it’s classic separation anxiety due to her being a relatively new rescue and you having moved into an unfamiliar place.
Over the next few days, leave the house for two or three minutes and then come back inside. Wait until she is silent for 30 seconds before you go inside. Praise her like crazy when you get inside. Make it a HUGE deal that you’re home and she was quiet. Gradually increase the time you leave, maybe run an errand or two and come back, but make sure you wait until she isn’t barking for half a minute before you go inside. You don’t want to encourage the barking by coming inside when she makes noise. Also, don’t verbally correct the barking if you aren’t in the room, you don’t want her knowing you’re out there. Even my own dogs would bark if they could hear me, but couldn’t get to me.

My dog used to do that when he was a pup. When we leave he made the koyo koyo koyo koyo sound. He stopped that within a few days.I don’t know how to force your dog to stop that.my dog stopped it by himself. So your dog will also stop that habit once it realises that there is no point in doing so.
