dog has heart failure. what should i do to help her live longer nd happier?

By

okay so i just took my dog to the vet and found out she has heart failure and a liver problem. and she refuses to eat anything but carrots and cheese. is this okay? i want to do everything i possible can to make sure she lives as long as she can but idk what to do. is there some kind of excersize i should make sure she gets? and what kinds of food do i feed her that isnt animal food because she wont eat it anymore. she is always doing that cough thing because of the heart failure and i always pet her head while she goes through it so she doesnt feel lonely, but im worried she doesnt want me to do that..should i be with her or should i leave her be? give me any avice on how to take care of her so she can live longer and happier please.

What does the vet say.Don’t sound to good here.

she needs to be on a low sodium, low protein, and low fat food. eating just cheese and carrots is not ok. try canned food if she wont eat kibble. taking her to a cardiologist is not a bad idea either. is she on medication? she probably should be. consult your vet about exercise for her.

Well usually vets carry pills that will help your dog with any types of worms and heart failure. look into it on the internet or pet store sites (not pet smart)

My little Rose had a heart condition and the vet gave her water pills to keep the fluids down in her lungs. when she had cough/snort thing I would rub her neck/throat it did help. as for food my baby always loved scrambled eggs with cheese…good luck!

I suspect you should feed her what people with heart problems eat – no fat, that sort of thing. I fed my dog a lot of plain cooked chicken and she lived for at least two years after I was told she had a bad heart.
