How do you act when there is someone’s loose dog barking at you with the owner standing by the side?
By adminI usually just stand still till the owner gets the dog away. (I was bitten by a dog once). But it seems to me that most owners find it offensive when someone thinks their dog might bite. What is the ‘correct’ thing to do here?

people act like their dogs are the equilvalent of a human being and how dare you be upset that their rabid dog is acting like he wants to chew your @ss off. you pull out a gun and i bet they would snatch the mutt up real quick like.

I HATE when people do this. It happens to me all the time. If the dog is actually going for you, I would YELL at the owner, like YELL. Like “HEY STUPID GET YOUR ****** DOG OR I’M CALLING THE COPS” (have your phone out.) If the dog is just barking at you, give them a nasty look and just walk away. I don’t think there is a “correct” thing to do, because people are different. Me, if my dog was barking at someone or someone’s dog, I would pull her away and apologize profusely and leave immediately. But some people are like “WHAT! MY DOG IS SO NICE!” (as it attacks you) My sister was walking our dog on our street and a loose dog attacked her and our dog and the owner was standing right on his porch watching, doing nothing. The freaking mailman had to help. She (sister) was screaming at the neighbor like “WTF GET YOUR F****** DOG! HELP!” Ya know?
People these days.

I have a conversation with the dog:
“Bark! WOOF, okay??!! Is THAT right?!? Thanks for saying so, yours is nice to! Oh REALLY?!! You know, my aunt had that same problem once…. Oh? Ok, I’ll be sure to tell them for you…. Wow, you sure have a lot on your mind! Wow….. Is THAT how it seems to you? You don’t say!”
