My American Eskimo dog has a greasy dark substance under her eyes, all the time. Can this be fixed?
ByIt’s just so ugly to see…
Is there any way of removing it?

Its tear stains, quite common in many breeds. Wipe her eyes gently with a soft, damp cloth every day, that should help. You can also get a mild tear stain cleaning solution at your local pet supply store.

Your local pet store carries products that will remove the staining. It is common in white dogs due to the tearing from their eyes.

very normal for some breeds to have tear stains, and there are remedies for it. i would follow these guidelines:
1.) clean the eyes daily with Tear Wipes (available at pet store)
2.) make sure food has NO artificial food colorings or preservatives
3.) give the dog filtered water (and its not expensive, the big jugs at the grocery store of distilled water are usually cheap)
4.) get an internal product like Angels Eyes (found online, blocks the chemical in the body from causing stains)
5) keep the hair around the eyes trimmed

My American Eskimo has the same problem. I don’t know the reasons behind it but that they are bacteria .. it’s hard to get rid of if it’s a deep stain. You just have to keep the area clean with wipes. Don’t use the tear stain solutions at most pet supply stores. They don’t work. I’ve tried Crystal Eye solution, it doesn’t do anything.
Right now, I’m trying this powder formula called Angel Eyes. You can look it up online. You feed it to the dog, and it’s suppose to go away after a while. It’s kind of working!!! So I say, give it a shot.
PS. you might also want to ask the vet about it .. to make sure they don’t have some sort of tear duct problem. I read it online somewhere before.
