My dog has been in heat twice in three months and it smells horrible this time. Is this normal or an infection?
ByI own a two year old Boston Terrier and she has been in heat twice in three months. My vet said that they should only come into heat twice a year so I am very conserned, Is it possible that it could be an infection? She smells horrible, worse than ever before. Any advise would be very appreciated.

The bad smell isn’t a good sign. You should have her checked out at the vet to see what the problem is.

Why isn’t she spayed?
You don’t sound like a breeder.

Take her to the vet, get her spayed asap

When you talked to the vet and he told you it was odd, did he not suggest bringing her in for a check up?
She should definitely be seen. It could be a fatal infection that would need immediate medical attention.

Imho this is not really a question for yahoo answer so the best thing to do is to take her to the vet so she’ll have professional care.

You vet was right that she should only come into heat about every 6 months or so. She could have an infection. You need to get her to a vet.

Female dogs only come into season once every 6 months on average.
Seasons do not smell either.
Something is seriously wrong with your dog.
Get her to the vet urgently, ask for her to be spayed and checked over.

GET HER TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY. More then likely its not only an infection but pyrometra (infection of the uterus). She has to be spayed immediately if you want her to live!

Your dog could possibly have pyometra and if that is the case she will probably have to be spayed just to save her life. This is no time to wait to see what happens next. Get her to a vet as fast as you can, like tonight if there is an emergency vet available. If not, try to call your vet tonight and talk with him.

Hi.
Bad smell might be a first sign about problems with dog’s health.
“Dry, dull, brittle hair or tallow with a smell – a sign of metabolic disorders or diseases of the digestive organs. Wash the dog in such a state can not in any case, since the mite does not eliminate the causes of the violation. Treatment should be undertaken on the advice of a veterinarian.”

infection is very likely
Dogs only cycle approx every 6 months, bad odor indicates infection.
