It doesn’t sound normal. Take him to the vet. There has to be more than one in your area.

if it stinks there is probably an infection that has set in. i would contact another vet to see if you could get him brought in as soon as possible.

when wounds cuts or surgeries stink or are south of cheese it usually means infection contact another vet if possible they may have to be cleaned and he may have to be put on anitbiotics.

I wouldn’t think so..

Depends on how it smells. Could be infection. I would take him to another vet just to be sure that everything is ok.

no they are not supposed to smell bad. You should be rubbing the scabs off three times a day every day with triple antibiotic ointment. GENTLY rub the ointment on in a little circular motion, easing the scabs off as they become soft. The stitches should be just about ready to come out. If you have not been doing this, your dogs ears won’t heal right and you will have wasted all that money and your dog’s discomfort for nothing. Take him to the e-vet. It sounds like he has an infection.

Shouldn’t have cropped his ears in the first place. It’s unnatural and cruel.
Your dog was way more beautiful before. Way to go.

When we got our doberman’s ears cropped his ears started to stink. Next thing I know, his ears are messed up. Take him to the vet and see if his ears are filling up with liquid or getting infected. Your dogs ears may suffer if you don’t.

No,they are not supposed to stink. They are probably infected. When you chose to have your dog mutilated, you took the risk of the wound becoming infected. You need to get the dog to an emergency vet for antibiotics and to have the infected tissue cleaned,as the dog is in pain. Why don’t you shave off part of your ears and see how it feels?

No, they shouldn’t have a foul odor. Your Vet should have a emergency number, or another Vet on duty to see his patients while he’s away. Could be infected.

IF YOU DON’T HAVE A CONSTRUCTIVE ANSWER YOU SHOULD SERIOUSLY KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELF!
cropping is functional even in todays society. they help to keep the ears dry and help keep bacteria from growing in the ears. most dogs who get their ears cropped are breeds that are prone to infections. taking away the floppy part keeps the ear drier. dogs with pointy stand up ears tend to have less ear trouble because they stay cleaner.
so no it ISN’T cruel. it is actually better for the dog.
and before you go shouting about cruelty and mutilation i’d do some research so you don’t look like an idiot.
and yes i’d go see the vet. sounds like infection

Take him to the vet because his ears are infected. Please go before the infection spreads.

No it’s not suppose to stink, Odor indicates an infection. Please contact the on call vet ASAP.
Untreated infection will cause excessive and permanent scarring.

Having one vet in the area is not entirely impossible. There is only one vet in my town– and we’re on an island, and none of the surrounding towns have vets (they all travel to this town for vet care).
But–unusual smells is NOT normal. I suggest trying to find another vet, if possible, that can look at your crop.
EDIT: I agree that ear cropping can be functional. As an owner of an American Pit Bull Terrier that gets chronic yeast infections in the ear– I can’t help but wonder if his ears had been cropped if he would be suffering like he is now? As we all know– sunlight is the devil to yeast.

If your dogs ears smell then it needs to go back to the Vet. Don’t wait. You need to make an appointment TOMORROW!!! Do NOT wait another day. This is NOT normal!
