My dog keeps getting food in her ears, is there something I can use to make her feel more comfortable?
ByShe’s a cavalier king charles spaniel, the long feathery ears get food stuck in them all the time. It would be easier for me to get something more convenient for both me and her so that I don’t have to keep cleaning them all the time.

i had this problem with my cavalier too – i got her a deeper bowl for her food (and water- the amount of times i’ve had water shook onto me from her ears hehe) and this seemed to work better than a shallow bowl! it just left her ears hangin over the edge of the bowl!
hope this helps!! i know these dogs can be quite messy eaters anyway lol!

lol…i have a basset hound/beagle and he has the same problem…I haven’t found a solution yet, sorry. I’ve just gotten so used to cleaning his ears after he’s done. I’ve looked all over the place for something.
Maybe you could try getting like one of those “dog tables”, where their food and water bowl are in one thing. I’ve noticed that when my dog eats when he’s standing straight his ears don’t hover over his food.

Sure there is. They’re called Snoods (interesting name). They go over the dog’s head and down there neck, so that they’re face is sticking out but long hair and ears are comfortably held back.
My word description is lacking, you’ll just have to take a look http://www.thesnoodfactory.com/
Snood Factory’s description:
What Are Snoods?
A Dog Snood is a covering for the neck, head, and ears. Our Dog Snoods are made from a variety of materials, which you can choose from. Our Dog Snoods are designed and hand-made by us, that is a guarantee. The Dog Snoods have a ribbing band on each end to hold them firmly to the dog’s head and neck, keeping their hair clean from dirt, food, and water, and to prevent the Dog Snood from riding further up the next or over the head.

You can buy ergonomic dog feeders which are sold at different heights depending on the dog .Because they no longer have to lean right down to feed, the ears dont get mucky.I have been using one for 10 years and find it also helps with digestion as it is a better angle for them to eat at ….check it out.I have just checked and there is a web site for raised dog bowls that can be adjusted heightwise I just put “dog bowls
” into Google and up came loads.Good luck.

You need a snood. You can find them pretty cheaply and cute on eBay..or make one by cutting the cuff and a few inches of sleeve off an old sweater or sweat shirt..
My Afghan hounds must eat with snoods, or they eat their ears! (well, the long hair on their ears).
An alternative is feeding in an oblong bowl..I see them in dog catalogs..they are narrow, and the dog’s ears stay outside the bowl. For a CKC, a small loaf pan would work.

(Snood..I see three for $15 here)
