I don’t think you have anything to worry about. The small amount of deodorant that he ingested if he licked your armpit shouldn’t really affect him – i don’t think. But keep an eye on him for the next few hours and if he still doesn’t seem OK then take him to the vet to get checked out.

when i was in like second grade, i rolled a deodorant stick all the way up and took a huge bite out of it [dont ask] and i turned out okay. a little mentally challenged [haha] but fine.

…sorry. i think he’ll be fine.

You know, I’ve had my animals get hold of some strange things over the years. I have called poison control (the number is usually listed in the front of the phone book) and they have been very helpful. I wasn’t sure they’d want to help with animals, but they never seemed to mind, and would take into account the animal’s size, age, health, and the amount and nature of what he ingested.

I doubt the amount of aluminum the dog could have ingested if he licked your skin some time after you applied a normal amount of deodorant would affect him (unless he had some rare hypersensitivity) … but you can always call a vet or poison control to ask also.

To tell you the truth though, I myself have become concerned about deodorants. It took a while to find ones that worked well that DON’T have aluminum — I have to buy them at a health food store and combine 2 kinds — but aluminum *IS* very toxic.

However, your dog is probably fine.
