non shedding dog which resembles golden retriever, labs, or german shepherds?
ByHi i need a non shedding or little shedding dog of medium-large size. I love golden retrievers and know of some poodle crosses but are there any other types of dogs out there which don’t shed and might look similar to any of the breeds i listed in my question? Thanks!

nope.
actually “Non-shedding” means hairless.. all dogs with hair shed some.
You shouldnt choose a breed based on appearance.. you should choose a breed that best fits your personality and lifestyle.

maybe a goldendoodle or labradoodle. They don’t shed and can be cute.

All dogs shed, and most dogs that match the kind of dog your looking for are going to shed. Even the doodle mixes shed.

Goldens and German Shepherds are double coated breeds. Shedding is heavy with these coat types.
Labradors shed.
You won’t find a shed-less dog with these 3 breeds. Similar breeds to these that have similar coat types which shed also.

All dogs shed. There are dogs that have very minimal shedding but i’ve only known them to be of smaller breeds such as poodles, lhasa apsos, shih tzus ect.

all dogs require brushing, whether its daily to weekly.
dogs with real short and coarse coasts, like pugs, labs, and great danes, tend to leave hair where ever they go!
if you want a dog that is a big full sized dog like a Shepard or Retriever, look into a: boston terrier, border terrier, basejin, the Airedale, most of the Spaniel breeds, and the finnish spitz.
the finnish spitz may look the most like a golden retriever out of all the breeds i named.

Beware the poodle mixes – some shed ALOT! I have a standard poodle and a first generation poodle/lab cross. The cross makes dust bunnies that could take over the world. The poodle does not leave fur around unless the groomer forgets to blow the clipped fluff off him before he comes home. If a dogs does not shed around the house most likely the fur falling out is getting caught in their curls and needs to brushed frequently. You have a choice of a home maintenance issue or a grooming issue. Either way if you have a dog, you have fur to deal with one way or another.
Lab/Poodle crosses with 3/4 poodle are much less likely to leave fur around as their hair is usually curlier. Theu look more like poodles as a general rule. a Golden Retriever/Poodle cross can be a lovely dog but they a a lot of fur to brush and I suspect shed just as much as my Cindy Lou does.

The following dogs are considered low dander allergy coated dogs, not all are large, but thought you may want the list:
Bedlington Terrier
Bichon Frise
Irish Water Spaniel
Kerry Blue Terrier
Maltese
Poodles
Portuguese Water Dog
Schnauzers
Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier
If this is because of allergies, beware that you can be allergic to several things, dog dander, dog saliva or even dog urine it is best to visit breeders homes and check your reactions first.
Visit the breeder’s home and tell the breeder about your allergies. Hug and kiss the dogs, rub your nose into their fur, and breath the air in the room where they live. Let the dogs lick your bare skin, especially on your neck (if you are brave) and inside your arms where the skin is more sensitive. You want to test your allergic reaction both to the dander and saliva. This will help you to evaluate your current allergic reaction to that particular breed.
The below website is wonderful and goes into great detail
Edit: I just found this website when looking up something else, half way down the page is a section on low shedding dogs.
