Recently neutered dog – infection?
ByI just had my dog neutered yesterday but I’m afraid it is infected. The incision site looks kinda like an outie belly button, is this normal? The area is not red and I don’t see any puss but we recently had our cat neutered and his did not look like this?

Dogs and cats are completely different. If there is no swelling/redness or puss then there is not an infection. Keep a close eye on it, if you see any signs of infection call the vet and bring the dog in.

If you’re concerned, take him to the vet right away. If it’s infected he needs antibiotics ASAP. A little swelling is normal. Just take him in to be certain. A recheck should not cost much (maybe even free).

Take him back to the vet, they shouldnt charge for a check up after the operation. He should be on antibiotics anyway?

There is a difference in neutering cats and dogs. With the cat neuter, the incision sites are not sutured. They are with a dog neuter.
What you are probably seeing is some swelling in the tissue that has been tightly sutured. Not to worry, this is normal. However, you need to keep an eye on it and make sure your boy does not do any excessive licking/chewing. Also watch for the redness and purulent discharge you were speaking of. Remember, you can contact your vet at any point if you feel like something is wrong.
Best of luck with him, he should do just fine. Thanks for being a responsible pet owner and having him neutered!

You are not supposed to get your dog fixed. It’s not natural and your dog could die ftom the infection if you don’t take him back to the vet to get it checked out and make sure your dog won’t die.
