Vet-aggressive dog..muzzle size for miniature american eskimo? Tips?
Posted by: | CommentsMy miniature American Eskimo dog gets EXTREMELY aggressive when we go to the vet. It’s like a switch flips in her brain; her eyes glaze over and she’ll snarl and bite anything that tries to get close. Her last vet said she was the only dog she’s never been able to draw blood from, and she couldn’t get a muzzle on. Her previous owner had only taken her to the vet once as a puppy when she broke her leg, so now that I have her, I want to correct that and get her used to normal visits. She’s come leaps and bounds in dropping the aggression at home (thank you Caesar Millan!), but I’m still concerned about the vet. Anyone have any tips for making it better? I have yet to choose one here in town for her.
Also, does anyone else own a mini American Eskimo who can tell me what size muzzle to purchase for her? The nylon ones don’t work…she rips em right off with her paws, and it’s impossible to get on her. I want to get a basket one, maybe a plastic basket. But she won’t hold still to let me measure the circumference. Keeps shaking her head away!
Sigh. I’ve got a long way to go with this dog, but I want to give her a chance at a better life. At her previous home, she never got the attention, health care or discipline she needed.
My Shihtzu is 4 years old and not completely housetrained. She likes to urinate on rugs and there are spots throughout the house that I am currently treating with Urine-Off. We do take her outside twice a day and she almost always ‘goes potty.’
Now I wish I had crate trained her when she was little so I can better control her accidents as well as have her sleep in it at night instead of by the bed.
Help! Is it too late to crate train her?
I am very sad and scared to say that my best friend of 11 years was just diagnosed with Lymphoma in his lungs. A mass was identified on a chest x-ray in his left lung as well a spot in a secondary lobe. He was exhibiting many symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, shaking, loss of appetite, lethargy, and stomach upset. I had a single dose of chemotherapy given by injection 5 days ago and he is remarkably better. Like a new dog!
Does this mean that I could continue these treatments for the next year and expect the same results and quality of life for him. The medication was alsparze.
Miniature Pinscher Dog Health *Please Help*?
Posted by: | CommentsHello, I have a 4 year old miniature pinscher. Today, she threw up 3x a yellow foaming liquid, and her stools are kind of bloody drops..it is a bright red mix with brown. She hasn’t been eating anything besides some cheese. It might be because of a new dog food from Purina to Pedigree. It is hot over here if that is a factor. Pretty cool in the house. She seems alert for the most part and pretty much normal. In the morning her stool was normal but there was a red spot (think it was blood now) that I didn’t take into account. The past two times she pooped, it hasn’t been much or regular shape. It is like bloody small circular blobs (maybe diarrhea). I am about to make some rice. If you need any more details, please let me know. Also my dog can still jump and bark.
PS: I am not sure if she is stress because I moved her from my father’s house to my grandma’s house. She went from living from a Suburb to Chicago. There was more opportunities to look outside from my father’s house than my grandmother’s house.
My miniature poodle had a big bowel movement then peed which had some blood in it?
Posted by: | CommentsAnyway, my poor dog seemed as if he was constipated. It finally came out and I thought it was going to hurt him. Shortly after, he went to pee and it had blood inside of his urine. Could the big bowel movement had something to do with this? He is acting fine and eating regular.
