I would like to save a pig. I am a vegetarian and I want a pig as a pet. I am doing my reserach to do so. So far, I know that pigs are like dogs, and they have the intelligence of a three year old child.
I would like to know, where do the pigs that are slaughtered for meat come from? Where could I buy a baby pig that would grow up and go to a slaughterhouse? I want to save a pig, just one, from a slaughterhouse. Where can I buy one? How big would it grow? I know that they give pigs growth hormones and therefore they grow bigger, but do they give these hormones to the mother pigs tat breed the pigs for slaughter also, or just the slaughter pigs? Do they even have breeder mother pigs?

Also, I was wondering why are miniature pigs bred? Are they bred for pets? If they are I wouldn’t get one because the point is to get a meat pig to save it from the slaughterhouse.

Thanks everyone, VEGETARIANS/VEGANS SAVE A PIG! haha

He is almost 3 years old. Late Monday he had his yearly shots. Then around Wed/Thurs he started not acting like he was feeling well… then he started vomiting on Thursday night and Friday. He does have a sensitive stomach so we did not think much about it. By Saturday he was getting worse, but no vet here on Sat or Sun. By Monday morning he would not eat or drink anything. We took him into the vet and they started IV fluids and running blood test. The vet told us it was a problem caused by his heart Murmur. That his heart is having to work harder than it should and causing blood to back up in his liver causing his liver enzymes to be high. We brought him home last night and started him on his heart medicine and liver medicine and no improvement, if anything he is worse. Today he is completely lethargic, refuses to eat, so not my normal, happy, energetic dog. My husband just rushed him back to the vet, because he is so lethargic he will not even move, his tongue is hanging out of his mouth. I am so worried that my little dog is not going to make it and his is just like a child to us. Please anyone that has had any similar experience or any advice help me! Thanks

I have 2 miniature dachshunds and the older one (almost 18 months) constantly barks at night and when the baby (9 months) has something she wants. The baby doesn’t bark much at all. What can I do to get the older one to stop barking so much, especially at night/early morning?

Miniature Schnauzer Ear Problem?

Posted by: | Comments (2)

My miniature schnauzer is 2.5 yrs old and he keeps rubbing his ears and shaking his head. I checked his ears and they seem to be normal, nothing red or dirty. H has been doing for almost a month. The vet gave my mother in law some drops, we dont know what it was, we just got our dog back, sent from Peru, and we just dont know whats going on. Tomorrow im taking him to the vet, what can it be from experience?

I have a 1 year old miniature dashound with long hair and long ears. I have noticed a stinky smell coming from his ears, it smells sour. He also has allergies and is on allergy medicine and just finished a round of antibiotics so I know his ears cannot be infected. I look inside of his ears and see no signs of black, brown or yellow discharge. He is an inside dog because of his allergies and only goes outside a few times a day on a leash so I think the chance of mites in his ears is slim. I think the culprit may be earwax – so I am wondering if anyone could recommend any home remedy to take care of this. I really cannot afford another trip to the vet so I want to exhaust every other avenue before I take him back to the vet.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :o )

I just read a book about schnauzers and it said that when bathing the dog you should not let water in their ears. But I have noticed lately that his ears are really dirty and have a funky (stinky!!!) smell. What would be the proper way to wash his ears?
