Should I restrict water intake for a dog with heart disease?
Posted by: | CommentsMy 13-y-o, 2.4 kg. Maltese has kidney and heart disease. She’s constantly thirsty and should be getting plenty of water for her kidneys, but the vet tells me to restrict her water to 300ml per day, because too much water places too much of a burden on her heart, a conclusion that he came to after examining her following diuresis. However, I read on one website that “water should never be restricted in a dog with heart disease”! Which advice should I follow? It’s breaking my heart to see my dog searching everywhere for water!
my dog has heart worms and has been panting very heavy for a week now. what should I do?
Posted by: | CommentsI just got our dog 3 weeks ago, she is 8 yrs old. She has been with family, she came to me pregnant and with heart worms. She has delivered 2 puppies last Saturday, I have been feeding them and letting her taking care of them and stay with them, it seems as though they weren’t getting enough milk and one almost died. Since she has delivered the puppies, she has been breathing very heavily, and has developed a slight cough. Is she dieing? What can I do to make her more comfortable? Should I have her put to sleep?
I took her to the vet a week ago and that’s how we found out she had heart worms, he also told us that she has advanced heart worms. he told us that the treatment for her would cost us around 400.00 and he could not guarantee that she would survive. She is very weak and still trying to care for her puppies, i don’t want to take them away from her, that might stress her out even more. I don’t want to put my dog to sleep, shes been with the family for 8 years, but I also cant afford a 400.00 vet bill that we ain’t sure will work either. I want her to be comfortable, no pain…
Should my dog be acting this way after getting a few teeth removed?
Posted by: | CommentsMy 6 year-old female chihuahua got a few of her teeth removed last week and every once in a while she’ll just start jolting her head and constantly stick her tongue in and out in the air like she’s licking something for long periods at a time. Also, she coughs alot and will act like she’s gonna throw up. I’m giving her antibiotics the vet gave to me after her surgery. Could it be the reason for her behavior? Is it normal for her to act this way?
dog has heart failure. what should i do to help her live longer nd happier?
Posted by: | Commentsokay so i just took my dog to the vet and found out she has heart failure and a liver problem. and she refuses to eat anything but carrots and cheese. is this okay? i want to do everything i possible can to make sure she lives as long as she can but idk what to do. is there some kind of excersize i should make sure she gets? and what kinds of food do i feed her that isnt animal food because she wont eat it anymore. she is always doing that cough thing because of the heart failure and i always pet her head while she goes through it so she doesnt feel lonely, but im worried she doesnt want me to do that..should i be with her or should i leave her be? give me any avice on how to take care of her so she can live longer and happier please.
