My 4yr old yorkie girl is leaking urine post spay surgery.?
Posted by: | CommentsWe had my 4 year old girl spayed 3 days ago, she is going out to pee in the garden fine, but we also keep finding little puddles around the house, is this likely to settle, and from irritation due to the bladder being moved around, or is she going to have incontinence, how long do I wait before taking her to the vet? what are others experiences with incontinent dogs-how much would meds cost per month if needed? (not that it matters, would do anything for my dogs) and would it ever improve? sorry for so many questions, am just worried.

german shep x just had biopsy surgery in anal area….?
Posted by: | CommentsI do realise I’m probably over reacting. She’s my grandmothers dog I’m minding while grandmother away overseas.
the dog is 6.5, had biopsy surgery today to diagnose suspected anal fistula/furunclosis. the area is driving her crazy. shes on tramadol (pain killer – i know from taking myself its very strong and has, for me anyway, quite nasty side effects) and I’ve been told I can get sedatives to help keep her calm while she recovers BUT
she’s so flexible (she’s crossed with kelpie) she’s able to work her way around the cone collar to get at the area. I don’t want to irritate it too much by constantly inspecting it, but while I’d expect it to be swollen, I have no idea what a dog’s anus should look like, much less after surgery, and it seems to be weepy or possibly even fecal incontinence??
I’m terrified to even leave her alone while I sleep incase she rips something open over night. And I have to go out to appointments tomorrow, and I’m not sure how I can do that with the stress of leaving her alone.
I can’t call the vet for another 9hrs, otherwise I’d be on the phone, not on here.
Any advice at all? What should/can I do to ease her pain? I’ve spent a lot of time just trying to soothe her and keep her calm, but I have my own pain issues and my options are limitied. She also has serious mental issues – anxiety etc. Vets words were GSD’s fear issues crossed with kelpies’ psychosis are a bad mix.
Is there any way I can cure my dog’s cherry eyes without surgery?
Posted by: | CommentsMy new chiwawa has cherry eye in both of her eyes. I am way too young to afford a 1000 dollar surgery for a dog I found on the street.I just want my new dog to be healthy and not in pain.Is there any other option to my problem?

13 year old dog in surgery….?
Posted by: | CommentsI wanted to re word my last question. I have a 13 year old wiener dog, looks and acts like a pup, did blood work and xrays all came back good for her age. We are getting all the lumps removed on her stomach (mammary lumps) When we took her in the vet said it would be good to get her spayed as well because of all the infections and estrogen that could happen later on in life. I don’t know if i want to keep her under Anastasia longer then needed because of her age. Were getting the major surgery for her lumps but don’t know if its worth it to get her spayed at 13. I have to make a decision today and am going back and forth…. Any wisdom??
Help does my dog need surgery?
Posted by: | CommentsI have a 10 year old Chiwawa Pug mix female dog. She is very old but she is very active. Last time i took her to the vet they noticed lumps on her tummy one of the lumps is geting big and she has other smaller ones.
The vet explained that they should get removed and she should get fixed since they will be in that area. I know she is a bit too old to fix her but i did not know she was not, she was given to me when i was much younger and never know it was very improtant to do it.
The procedure will be around 1,000. She has been having these lumps for some time now. I have been told that if i do remove them and they fix her she can get sad and not be as active as she can be sometimes, should i go ahead and do the surgery and find out if the lumps are cancer ?
Does my dog need surgery?
Posted by: | CommentsMy dog has a cyst-ish looking thing growing on the outside of her ear. She’s a 4y.o. beagle. The local vet has been annoyingly vague about what it actually is and wants to put her under and cut it off for a fee that I think warrants a second opinion. It’s about the size of a pea and has bled a little bit, so it has a scab on the lower side. I think this might be because she keeps scratching her ear. Another vet (the doctors at the clinic keep rotating) gave her a weeks worth of anti-bio’s that didn’t do anything to help…and I think it’s getting bigger. Does she really need surgery or is there some other way to sort it out?
