What do you think about “altering” a dog? like snipped ears and such?

i think its totally wrong but can’t con vice him not too
what do suggest?
does it hurt them?
am i making a big deal about nothing?
I am trying a medicine from pertsmart. Do I treat all the dogs in my house at the same time (even though only 1 visibly has them.)

I am a very loving responsible pet owner, and just couldnt get myself to get the petsmart meds. My dogs are my babies, and he has a vet app. this afternoon. Thanks for your responses. 
Why do people think switching off dog food is the only answer to the recall?
Posted by: | CommentsDo they not know that there are tons of great quality kibble out there that are made with human grade ingredients and are grain free? I only ask this because it seems the general public isn’t aware that brands like Innova EVO, Wellness, Canidae, and Timberwolf Organics are out there. I feed my dog Wellness mixed with Timberwolf Organics dry food, and she looks great and I NEVER worry about her food being recalled. It seems everyone wants to switch to homemade dogfoods rather than investigating what foods are good quality, with the assumption that there couldn’t possibly be anything better than what they were feeding, whether Alpo, Science Diet, Nutro, or Eukanuba. I am definately NOT against making your own food for your dog, but for some people this isn’t going to be a longterm solution. If you have the time I think it’s great to make it yourself, but many dogs with allergies can’t do this (like mine)
I understand these brands aren’t readily available, but many stores will order them if the distributor carries them and most you can buy online. Timberwolf Organics will even ship to you for free, regardless of where you are located.
What do you think of these ingredients for hamster food?
Posted by: | CommentsI know it’s easier and maybe even cheeper to buy prepared food for hamsters but my dogs are on a raw food diet, my tortoises too (except they also get soft dog food) So would be nice if my hamster also had homemade hamster food. Is this good?

Do you use Solid Gold dog food? What do you think of it?
Posted by: | CommentsI just started using solid gold wolf king dog food and I am wondering if anyone uses it and if you had noticed a change in your dog when you switched. I really like the ingredients that are in it. The first one is Bison, where the first one in other dog food I was using is corn. Dogs are meat eaters. Crazy the stuff the dog food companies got away with putting into dog food, thank goodness that a lot of people are waking up to what is really in our pets food.
What do you think of the solid gold? If you want to add comments about the recall go right ahead.
I think my dog just had a seizure!!!?
Posted by: | Commentsmy dog was laying on the ground, than all of a sudden she goes rigid, and flops to her side. She starts flailing her legs and shaking her head violently. she started slobbering a lot. It lasted a good couple minutes, she would kind of calm down, and seem like she was regaining consciousness, and then she would tart to tense up again.
after a couple minutes of laying on the floor completely out of it, she stands up, and starts walking around, than she starts coughing, and hacking up some gross brown liquid…
than, all of a sudden she’s fine. now she’s happy, and running around happier than she’s been since we got her…
some history on her: she’s a ten year old Schnauzer, and we just adopted her yesterday. she was being neglected (we’re not sure if she was ever physically abused) and animal control rescued her. She’s been kind of mopey around the house since we got her and I assumed that was because she was in a new environment, and just a little scared, but once that happened, she’s been happy, and running around perfectly fine…
does anyone know anything about seizures in dogs, is this going to be a prolonged problem, or is it just a weird thing that happens every now and than?
if it ever happens again, what am I supposed to do? I noticed that she had a little blood on her tongue when it was over, and I’ve heard that people will stick spoons in people’s mouths, is that a good idea??
I would just like to be prepared if it happens again…
I’m at my mom’s house in Arizona, I don’t know any vets here, and my step-dad has the car! I can’t leave right now!
and, she’s ok right now, we’re going to take her to the vet when he gets back, but I’m looking for ways to help her if it happens in the future. But thank you all for being complete a$$holes.

Tapeworms-I took my dog to vet yesterday but I think she still has them?
Posted by: | CommentsMy 4 or 5 month old blue-nose pitbull had tapeworms extremely bad. I had already wormed her with over-the-counter wormere but that didn’t seem to do anything at all. I wormed her with 2 wormers that my mother had gotten from the vet a while back for her old dog…but that didn’t do the trick either.
I finally took her to the vet yesterday and told them i knew she had tapeworms. They were unable to get a stool sample from her because she was “empty” but they gave her a general wormer that included tape worms.
She is an inside dog but recently I have made her stay outside because I had seen peiced of the tapeworms come off on things before which is disgusting. I don’t want to let her stay in the house if she still has tapeworms.
I brought her inside to bathe her and leave her inside a few minutes ago assuming the tapeworms would be gone since the vet wormed her yesterday….but as soon as i brought her in…she began sliding on her stomach around the carpet….which is a sign of tapeworms.
How can she still have worms?! Does it take more than a day for the wormer to set in? Or more doses? I really don’t like leaving her outside for so long.
What makes people think it’s ok to hit dogs?

I see people doing this and all I can do is shake my head and keep myself from running up to them and knocking them upside the head like they just did to the dog and see how the like it.
Why do people think that this is an effective way to train? In my opinion all it does is make a fearful dog that will most likely end up mauling someone one day due to that fear.
I have had a personal experience with a dog “trained” that way and it landed me in the hospital for a week. I doubt it would have been as bad if I wasn’t only 4, but still.
I think it’s wrong in any type of situation, unless of course, the dog is trying to rip your throat out.
Dogs respond much, much, much better to positive reinforcement rather than pain. Just my opinion. Possibly fact.
